RE: 8+ foot gar in Illinois?

Maybe you could put my 4-footer in it's mouth...like a minnow. :D
Well, I'm bringing your 4-foot 'minnow' down to the show, but I think we'll need a bigger booth to pull off that kind of display. [:-]
Thanks for loaning it BTW.

Hey, the nice thing about a 4' fish is you don't need to rent a uhaul to cart it around. :)

Holy crap! Where do I sign up for a shot at one of those? Man-o-man, Dina would kill me if I got one of those cause I'd have it mounted and hanging in the living room!

Hey, how do you kill them? Just pull them out of the waterand wait, or do you kill them with the arrows?

I wonder how old it was when you got it.

Gosh guys, if you want a pic of me just ask and I'll send you one. :)

Looking fwd to the show and getting to meet some of you that I already seem to know from here and other sites.

No way do you pull one of those gar in the boat alive. A sharp blow behind the head will sever the spinal column and do the job quickly.

oh ya, biologists estimate it at 60-65 years old. That is why we choose to be very selective when shooting big gar. Same for big longnose. Just no reason to shoot everyone you see.

Man that's big.

BOWMAN:

You could rig it up from the ceiling so that it hangs in mid-air like the whales at museums.Just hope it never falls on any of your guests. :D

Well, it'll be at the show, so... nah, better not. [:-]

Good policy, and very nice catch.

Thanks so much for the loaner, even if you do have to send a bodyguard with it. ;)
