IL Deer and Turkey Classic 2007

Hey everybody,

I just wanted to remind everybody about the upcoming Deer and Turkey Classic. Feb 23-25th. http://www.deerinfo.com/illinoishome.asp

We'll be at booth 1021. We are also running the Kid's Archery booth which will be located right next to our booth.

So far I have Dave, Joanne, myself, Kendall, Chris E., Steve Thomas, Tim Nuss, JRW, Larry McGuire, Todd Mendenhall, Mikey S., Billy K and Dr Rob as volunteers.

I'm going to be sending out an email to you guys totry and lock in some times since I think we will need to have at least 5 people between the two booths at all times. :)

If somebody is not on the list but would like to help out, please let me know when you can help.

This show is expected to be even bigger than last year's. 270 booths, 600 deer entered and over 20,000 visitors. It should keep us busy. :)

Hey Lynn, great to see you over here!

Saturday morning would be great. The show opens at 9am, but whenever you can help, c'mon over. The bowfishing booth is right next to the archery range, so you shouldn't any trouble spotting it. :)

I look forward to meeting you. I have to renew my IBS membership too. Don't let me forget. :)

Thanks to everyone who's volunteered. I just hope we get everything ready by then. It's coming together nicely, but there's still a lot to be done.

See you at the show!

Members, supporters, DNR biologists and media get the newsletters.

Robin, you should be getting one as a supporter. (I think Rob is trying to prod you into being a paid member and supporter) :)

Sorry Robin. As one of our earliest supporters, you should be getting one. We'll make sure we get one out to you today.
My earliest recollection of you was the "Bowfishing under power" letter you secured from the Illinois DNR. I for one haven't forgotten the work you've done for us even before there was a club in Illinois. Thank You.

That doesn't mean we wouldn't still like to see you and Keith become members also.;)

I'll second that, as if it needed it.
That little letter, all by itself, has helped Illinois bowfishing greatly.

Iwas chatting witha CPO last spring, and he confirmed that it had made its way into their breifings. He said hewas glad to see that issueget clarified so they knew how to enforce the law, and so no bowfishermen got hassled needlessly.

I will see what I can do about becoming a "paid" member. Actually, I thought Keith and I were paid up, but then again...I don't really know why.:)

Anyway, I know the guy that writes the Aim Low checks...

BTW, if you have any pictures of the Gator gar mount, feel free to make us all jealous by posting them. :D

Can someone please tell me, is this the same show that used to be in Peoria, IL, at the Civic Center? Or is the Peoria show another event alltogether?

I used to go to Peoria to a Hunting convention at the Civic Center with my father, and I don't remember if it was called this name or not. It had everything there.

I went to Peoria last year (early '06) for a different convention, and it was quite smaller with rows of guns for sale towards the back. Pretty sure this was definitely a different event than previously.

I plan to attend the Bloomington show either way.

Yes, the Deer Classic used to be in Peoria at the Civic center. It has been at the Interstate Center in Bloomington for several years now.

Stop by the booth and say "Howdy".

Just want to say that I really enjoyed the show and it was nice meeting Robin and getting a close up of the alligator gar. I still can't believe with all the testosteronein the buildingthat I was able to find a booth with "girly" jewelry.

Obviously the weather held off for me and my trip back to chzhead land was uneventful. Can't wait to see you all again and shoot some real carp instead of targets and balloons.
