Has anyone had luck day fishing the Wabash b/c here in Indiana we can't use lights on moving water. If so where at? I might be intersted in joining if it is between Terre Haute and Covington.

You might try contacting the INDY BOYS with a PM, or ask Christine or Carpsniper to hook you up with one of the guys from team Carptrek.
Both teams bowfish Indiana, and the Indy boys are in the Southwest part of the state. Johnny B and a few others are right across the IL state line and may have explored that area. Feel free to come back and post any good spots you find. Good luck. -Bulz |

Elpy,
Johhny B, KBI Prez, and myself all live in Danville, IL which as you probably know is just across the the state line from Covington, IN. We can share our notes and info on the Wabash with you if you would care to email us. |
RE: Wabash River
EPLY,
In response to your querry. We have fished the wabash a couple of times in the past month. We put in at Perrysville and also at Cayuga. We are told that there are a lot of gar, but only seen a couple and they are still there. We did see some silver carp, but they are few and far inbetween. KBI-Prez and Snuffy shot 3 nice 10# buffalo two weeks ago down at the Power plant discharge sluse. Doubt if we make it back again this year, with hunting season just around the corner. I know that farther down some monster grass carp have been shot. Like most mid west rivers you have to go gingerly. The bottom is very unpredictable. You can run a-ground most any where. The water can be murkey to almost clear depending on the rain upsteam. It has some great potential, just waiting on some big heads to show up.. |
RE: Wabash River
I shoot the river a little and the wabash is a very dangerous river shallow and lots of things to run in to like snags and log jams ask Alex(INDY BOYS)if you dont believe me I would be very careful at night

RE: Wabash River
Right now the wabash is quite shallow. I know there are tons of gar but they are hard to see in the day as the same is with silvers. North of montezuma where sugar creek meets the wabash the seems to be a large silver community, I have also heard there are a few around the power plat at cayuga. Right now the river is not navagable without a fan and the water clarity is horrible so i dont know if bowfishing is an option since night fishing isnt legal. I also know one person who has shot a grassy in the bash. I was also wondering if anyone has any advice on how to build a removable platform for a boat.

RE: Wabash River
Does anyone know any secrets for shooting large grassys? They seem to be really skittish but we have managed to shoot a few. Here is a pic of some of them.
