Western South Dakota Hunting!!!!
Anyone interested in hunting west of the Missouri River? My father-in-law is an outfitter that runs bow and rifle hunts for Turkey and Deer.
I will let you know that the rifle hunting is by lottery and that he's usually booked by January for the next year. BUT, he is looking for A LOT more archery hunters. These tags are NOT by lottery, you just have to send in. Plus, the bow hunters get more time to hunt (usually a couple more days). Lodging is provided in the cost, and he has well over 2,000 acres to hunt on. For deer, you have the choice of Whitetail or Mule Deer, as well as hunting right along the Missouri River (there are massive deer around there). The turkey hunting is unreal there! This will be my first year bowhunting for a turkey, and I am REALLY looking forward to it. There are probably 700-1000 turkeys on his place alone! There are Merriams, Easterns, and some Rio Grandes there. I shot my first turkey last year. It was a very small Tom, and he weighed in at 19 lbs, had an 8 3/4" beard and 1" spurs. This was a small turkey for this area. I'll post a link to the site, and if you have any questions, his name is Paul Teel, and the telephone # is on the main page. Like I said, he is looking for a lot more bowhunters, so if you are interested, give him a call. http://www.huntfind.com/whetstonecreek/index.html |
