Father/Son Hog Hunt?
 

I am looking for a hog hunt for my 9-yr old son for his birthday. Hiswill turn 10 atthe end of January, so a February hunt would be great. We live in Alabama so anywhere in the South/SouthEast would work, but I think he would really love Texas... He has shot one with a rifle, so I would like to take his bowand let him try that first (35lb Browning, so 20 yard shot max) and maybe take his 243 just in case. Also, this would probably need to be a weekend hunt because of school.

If anybody has a hunt or knows of a good outfitter that works well with kids, please let me know.

They are located in Pawnee, Oklahoma. We live in Kansas, and traveled there to hunt with rifle and bow. Lots of hogs in a 100 acre fenced in property. Perfect for your young boy. My son shot a hog with a rifle and one with his bow.

35lbs is not even legal to kill big game. no matter how much of a neuisance

Lucky for me, I live in the great state of Alabama - where common sense prevails!

- Longbows, including recurve and compound bows, legal for hunting deer and turkey, must have minimum tension (draw weight) of 35 pounds. Maximum allowable draw reduction (letoff) is 90 percent at full draw. Arrows must be 20-inch minimum length and equipped with a sharpened broadhead. Broadheads must have a minimum weight of 100 grains.

Let me guess, in your state the minimum draw weight is like 50 lbs... But, you can stab a hog with a knife or spear? Or trap them and slit their throats? And kids have to be like 12 years old before they can even hunt? Don't get me started...

We wonder why we have a serious downward trend of kids being involved in hunting. Could it be because we make it so hard for them to even get the opportunity? And just in case you think 35 lbs is not enough to cleanly kill large game, I have some pictures you might be interested in.
