Looking for trophy deer hunt between Thanksgiving and Christmas
I am looking for a last minute hunt for (2) hunters. I would like a 3 to 5 day, trophy whitetail hunt that can take place sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas of this year.
Our dates are relatively flexible as long as we are not hunting on Holday dates. I am not locked into a specific State or region but, I would prefer Kansas, Iowa, orsomewhere coldand snowy over a Texas or Mexico hunt but, If a great deal on a Texas hunt was available, we would consider it. I want to hunt an area that hastrophy deer with a reputable outfitter who has a good success rate.Like most huntersour trophy expectations are to kill the biggest buckpossible but, we would chose a location that had an 80% success rates on 120# deer over a hunt that had a 10% chance on a 150# deer. We are located in Georgia and would drive to anywhere within 12 hours of us and fly to hunts that were further away. We would like to rifle hunt but, if a really great muzzleloader, shotgun, or archery hunt was available we would consider that as well. We would be a perfect group to fill a last minute cancellation or an unexpected opening. Like everyone we are looking for a good deal but, I havebeen on several "cheap" hunts where I spent several ice cold days staring at empty fields withno deer within 5 miles. The "quality" of the hunt and outfitter is a much bigger factor than price. We arehoping to keep our budget under$2,000 per hunter. We are not just "kicking tires" to see what is out there. If the right hunt is available at a good price we will book immediatley. If anyone has an opening that they think would be a good fit please post a reply here or e-mail me directly at [email protected]. Thanks for taking the time to review my post and hopefully we will be meeting a new outfitter in a few weeks. Scott |
RE: Looking for trophy deer hunt between Thanksgiving and Christmas
Scott-
Saw your request for a deer hunt, thought I would let you know what I have. I am not an outfitter but a long time bow hunter who owns and leases 400 acres of land in three different parcels. You could choose any of the 3. I have a 24x48 heated-furnished cabin nestled in the cedar trees here in Kansas. My son arrowed a 134” gross score 11pt whitetail on Tuesday of this week. We have fantastic deer here in Stafford County, Kansas, just ask anyone that’s been here. Rifle season starts here next Wed., but you need an out of state transferable permit. Next year you will be able to purchase them over the counter. I am offering a 5 day hunt for $2,000/gun which includes stay in my private cabin. I would be glad to send you photos of cabin and deer pics. Maybe next year if we can’t find permits. I have references if you need them as I have offered this hunt only once before. Let me know if I can help. Mitch |

This is a hunt we would probably do if we can find the permits quick enough. Rifle season is only 4 days away. If anyone has, or knows of, (2) transferable kansas rifle permits please let me know by posting here or emailing me at [email protected]
Thanks Scott |

Might try calling Kansas Dept. of Wildlife and Parks or checking their web page. They may have a list of phone numbers of people with permits. The people I know, have already sold them.
Good luck. |
RE: Looking for trophy deer hunt between Thanksgiving and Christmas
We have a couple openings for a Nebraska muzzleloader hunt. Licenses are
$178.00 available over the counter and are good for either mule deer or whitetails. A $13.00 conservation stamp is also required. The cost of the hunt is $1700.00 for a six day semi-guided hunt. Lodging and meals at the bed and breakfast is $20.00/person/night. Dinners can be provided at an extra $9.00/person. The Nebraska terrain we hunt in is diverse, varying from dense creek and river country, to cultivated fields, to vast open range rolling hills. Hunters are positioned overlooking river bottom openings or bluffs where deer funnel between feeding and bedding areas. For our Whitetail hunts we use ground blinds and propositioned tree stands and some limited spot and stalk hunting method. If you are not a big fan of sitting on stand for extended periods you might have problems hunting our Nebraska River bottom areas. For our mule deer most hunting can be done by truck or easy walking. On these hunts we use some ground blinds, but mainly spot and stalk. As the hunting changes we adapt and use the best hunting method. Also, the openness and low population of Nebraska gives you lots of elbow room. A special place preserved in time. Our hunting grounds can accommodate most hunters of any age and hunters with disabilities or challenges. Trophy Whitetails in the 140 - 160+ class and Trophy Mule deer in the 150-170+ on our 19,000 acre QDM private lease. This area is one of the hottest areas in the mid-west for Big Whitetail Bucks. The dates for this hunt are Dec. 10-15, 2007 Call me or send an email if you are interested. |
