There are fixed ladder stands and moveable tree stands with climbing poles. There is no requirement for a New York state hunting license for hunts conducted on this island. Lodging: The main lodge is a spacious 1898 farmhouse that has been fully restored to provide a rustic, yet comfortable, environment to relax after a day’s hunt. Hunters are lodged two per room. There are two and a half bathrooms with showers. Additional facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, cable TV in main living room, a large wood-burning fireplace and stove, and an oversized deck with a magnificent view overlooking Lake Ontario. There is also a secondary lodge to accommodate larger groups or for those desiring additional privacy. The staff supplies three daily meals with all beverages (non-alcoholic only). About the Area: Galoo Island is located 14 miles northwest of Sackets Harbor, New York, on Lake Ontario. The island is 2,000 acres of forest and meadow terrain. Currently there are approximately 400 whitetail deer, with a two and one half to one doe to buck ratio. Each hunter is equipped with a portable radio for easy communication. Archery hunts are guided with one guide for each hunter. Email Charles at [email protected] |
