WHERE: The ranch is conveniently located 50 miles south of downtown San Antonio and is near the renowned I-35 flyway, west of Devine, Texas. The ranch has over 1 ½ miles of the spring fed Hondo Creek running thru it and several water tanks. There is an enormous amount of local dove in the area.
RANCH TERRAIN: Mostly level fields of sunflowers, croton and cultivated crops. Dove like open cultivated fields with easy access to water.
TYPICAL WEATHER: Temperatures generally range from the upper 70's to the mid 90's but can easily go over 100 in the early part of the seasons. Afternoon showers are possible.
GEAR: Light cotton clothing in olive or camouflage, cap or hat, shell belt or vest, warm weather boots, shooting glasses, ear protection, bucket or stool and personal items.
SHOTGUNS: 20’s and 12’s with 7 1/2 or 8 shot. Light powder charges are very effective.
HUNTING METHOD: Sit or stand, hopefully in the shade, along a brush line, in a field or near a tank.
SUCCESS: Depends on your ability, and the birds, but you should have an opportunity to shoot a limit of birds.
WHAT YOU PROVIDE: License, cooler for game, alcoholic beverages, transportation to and from Lodge, shotgun, shells, fishing tackle, golf clubs, hunting gear and personal items.
