Distress calls

Here are some calls I made today. They are cottontail distress and jack rabbit distress.

Sheridan 08-07-2013 05:13 PM

They sure look good; how do they sound ?

Stickman12 08-07-2013 05:44 PM

They sound great. I have been making turkey calls for about a year and about a month ago started experimenting with these.

badlandsgunner 08-07-2013 06:16 PM

Those look sweet stickman. What kind of wood are those?

Stickman12 08-07-2013 06:31 PM

The dark wood is red palm and the lighter one is cebil. I also have Osage orange, and cocobolo. I will add some pics of them when I get them made.

badlandsgunner 08-08-2013 12:31 PM

That red palm has some sweet grain.

Can't tell by the pics, rubbed wax or CA finish?

Be sure to put up more pics as you turn more coyote calls! It'd be great to have some more custom call makers on this forum!

Stickman12 08-08-2013 07:21 PM

I used CA on them.

I have pics of turkey calls on the hunting gear classifieds.

Of course by "custom call makers", I naturally only mean the kind that matter... CUSTOM COYOTE CALL MAKERS!!!!! ;)

Stickman12 08-08-2013 07:28 PM

Haha ok, got it. Do you make calls?

Stickman12 08-08-2013 07:32 PM

Here are a few more I made today.

Gem Wood

Rosewood

Cocobolo

Cherry squirrel call

Nomercy448 08-08-2013 07:34 PM

Which reed did you press into the 'gem wood' call?

And what do you want for it?

Stickman12 08-08-2013 07:38 PM

I used a jack rabbit reed. Its a jc products single reed. And I will take 25 shipped for it.

I'll take that Gem Wood call, I really like the look of the 'trumpet' you turned on the exhaust, and the blue has a neat look to it. Besides, I don't have a call on the shelf from Virginia yet!

badlandsgunner 08-17-2013 06:57 PM

These are nice calls guys. They have a nice sound & turned very well. Perfect size for back pressure control and to put in your pocket.

Nomercy, We in VA so get some calls here. Check out my buds calls. He has a shed business in his decoy storage shed. He is retired on disability after a TBI and started this as therapy. I drive him around as he can't drive due to his injury. Every call is different, hand turned and painted and finished. He makes 4 types of duck calls: mallard, wood duck, teal, seaduck. Goose calls. predator. and turkey calls. see link. thanks, 10 ga

Forgot to answer this one way back...

I have a lathe, know how to use it, make a few calls here and there just for fun.

BUT... More importantly...

I collect coyote calls, hence my original interest in this thread...

NjHunter85 10-23-2013 06:41 PM

Stickman12 10-26-2013 07:15 PM
