Question for Leica LRF Owners

I am considering the purchase of a Leica LRF 900 rangefinder and am wanting to know if it willrange deer and elk at 900 yards or if the distance is reduced similar to the Bushnell. I know Bushnell indicates their 800 Rangemaster will only range deer at 450 yards and their 1000 will only range to 500 yards.

At the present time I am looking for a good price on a used or demo Leica 900 if it will range deer and elk at 900 yards.

RE: Question for Leica LRF Owners

It completely depends on the type of target and surface you are ranging, along with lighting.Being steady enougha rangefinder with a low power, on an elk at 900 yards would be a major task in itself. The best bet would be to just range the ground near the elk. It would be easier, quicker and still accurate, within a few yards. I used the 1200 Leica and have got ranges near 1300. But to answer your question, Leica rangefinders are the closest in retreiving the distance they say they can (when compared to other brands). But a full 900 yards on an exact target of an exact, i'd doubt it.
