Treestand question
 

hey guys got a question hear two things actually. I have a API grand slam tree stand and i was wondering what is the best way to get both the platform and the top section nice and level to the tree so im not facing downward so much?? Also i got the stand used so i have no instructions how do i put it on my back really what i mean is how do i attach the stands together so i can put it on my back thanx ???

I attach the stand to the tree so it is angled upward, and put it on as high as I dare climb into it. That way, it ends up level when I get to 25 or so feet. Also, by putting it on as high as you dare climb in, you are getting away from the thick trunk, which should help by tightening the setting and not having such a drop in tree circumference. This will keep it level too.

I would toy with ways to combine the two parts. I have the bowhunter, and turn the seat portion perpendicular to the platform. With yours, they should line up so the wedges that grip the tree are one on top of the other. That's how the Mossy Oak guys have theirs in the advertisements. One thing I would add is that you should do away with the fastening strap that came with the stand. It is worthless. Instead, get some bungee cords at the dollar store and use those to secure your stand. They can hook in the pins or holes in the wedges, or in the chain holes or around them. Two should do you fine. Make sure the wedges are behind your neck facing up.

I bought a motorcycle type pull tight cargo strap. Use to to secure to the tree, it's quiet and sturdy and when done I use it to hold the two parts of my climber together for the walk out.

Just as Doug said, start with the stand pointing upwards so as the tree gets more narrow the stand will level out.
