suggestions on shooting sticks
I was wondering what shooting sticks are the best. I can't make up my mind between Stoney Point, Underwood, Cabela's etc etc etc. I'm going on an elk hunt and plan on walking a good many miles. I've made sticks before for varmint hunting but I'm looking to buy a good set that folds up small for packing and assembles easily. Any suggestions, thanks a lot.

I like Underwood, they are quite, you can open them with one hand, very strong & stable.

I have a set of Stoney Point and do recommend them.

RE: suggestions on shooting sticks
I use the Versa-pod which is mounted on the gun. It's quite heavy and is a little short so I wouldn't suggest that. However, after field testing that, I saw a commercial for the Snipe Pod. Another gun mounted bipod which comes in an array of lengths. I suggested that one to my brother and he bought it. The Snipe Pod is pretty awesome. It's very light and easily detachable. Although the sticks work well, I like the pods a lot better than the sticks for shooting stability and for staying on target of walking game etc.

I love my stoney points, shock-corded. those bi-pods mounted to the gun may be a bit cumbersome and awkward if your goin' elk huntin'.

I have a pair of Harris that "were" mounted on my guns but found they were not practicale and heavy . I like the sticks with a swivel top .
