Propane Camping Heaters
 

Hello
I'm looking to get a small propane camping heater for use in my double bull blind. A while back I've used a few belonging to family members and the catalytic type seemed quiet while in operation and another type I'd borrowed kind of crackled and popped every so often.
I looking at either the Mr. Buddy Heater or the Coleman Black cat heater. The Mr. Buddy Heater has more btu's and a lack of oxygen shut off feature. Does anybody have this heater and is it quiet while in operation? The coleman is a smaller unit with less Btu's but it is more compact. Anybody have this heater and is it quiet?

I have a Mr Buddy heater for my camper.
I bought it because it has the low O2 sencer.
It works great.
There is some noise from the propane burner but not lots. Should not spook deer unless they are under your stand, a little wind will cover all the sound .
If you are going to use it a lot in a fixed blind , buy the hose for a 20 lb cylender.
Lots cheaper to run off 20 lb cylinders .

I have used the Coleman in the pass and it was quite. I have a catalytic in my travel trailer, it does a good job in heating and uses less fuel than the older furnance types. As far as I have seen all the catalytics are very quite.

I have the portable Buddy and have used it my Double Bull blind with my son to help with warmth. Put that baby on medium sit back and enjoy. I dont notice and noise and it keeps it nice and comfy in the blind.

What does this Mr. Buddy look like? What is it's rated btu and the colemans? What do they cost?

The Mr Buddy looks to have a physical shape somewhat like the portable radios from the 70's., rectangular in shape with a carrying handle. I believe they list the shipping weight at seven pounds. It has a low(4000 btu) and a hi(9000) btu. It has an automatic shutoff when the oxygen gets low. It sells for about $80.00 at cabelas, menards. It also has the option for the owner to purchase a hose to use it with the bigger tanks(like 20lbers).
The Coleman Black Cat is about $20. cheaper, a lot lighter and has a btu of 3000 I believe. It has a shape kind of like one of those 6 volt battery flashlights,screw the propane cannister into the back while from front has the dish shaped burner. It has two legs that swing out from the body to support the burner portion through a 3 point stance.(the third point being the bottom corner of the small propane cannister.
Go to cabelas to check out the Mr. Buddy Heater and go to Coleman to check out the Black Cat Heater.

I have two of the black cats, easy to carry, setup, etc. i use them when i ground hunt, stick one behind a camo umbrella and it will keep you warm. runs quiet also.

I just bought a mr heater buddy heater at tractor supply in green. the thing will definately put out some heat. i have a coleman sportcat (i think thats the name) and it doesnt put out anywhere the heat the mr heater does.
I paid $70 bucks for the mr heater but i think it will be worth every penny on a COLD day.
I am thinking about buying another for my son.

Use them all the time in my hunt cabin--works just fine.

Does anyone know of an indoor heater you can use at 10,000 feet? The Mr. Buddy is only good to 7,000 feet.
