What do you like, face the tree, or face away from the tree. Please let me know. Thanks Hole Puncher.

RE: Face the tree or Face away

I do both but prefer the tree to my back because of better visibility and easier maneuvering for a shot. I strictly bow hunt so a gun is not a consideration. If I want maximum comfort, I will move the seat outboard on my Buckshot Equalizer then set facing the tree and allow my safety harness to drape over my shoulder (either one), lean back on the harness and put my feet up on the cables. It is almost like setting in an EZ Boy. I go up a tree to hunt, not to sleep. I will admit that drowsiness is a problem when that warm sun hits you but instead of dozing off, I will stand up for awhile. Standing up every now and then is a good way to remain alert. My belief is that you need to stay in tune with mother nature in order to be a good hunter. If you are in tune, I would swear that a sixth sense will tell you when your game is nearby. Sleepers may enjoy their sleep but they are missing opportunities.

I've got both My Summit face away wins hands down.

The face the tree is quicker to climb , conceals you from the deer better but your shot is too limited and you can't shoot a bow from it.

Summit is more comfortable, quieter ,sturdier and you get a 360 degree shot. And you can shoot a bow from it.

Come on now. There is nothing better than a nap 25' up in a tree. Although if I'm not in the mood and want to be highly alert I take along my new buddy, Mr. Nodoze. There is nothing like it. I'm just eating up landscape.

I always faced away from the tree until I bought a couple of Gunslingers. With these climbers you face the tree.I was hesitant until I tried it. Facing the tree gives you allot better cover. With the GS's you're not right on the tree. You can still see around most of the tree. The tree gives you a good rest.I can stand and turn around in a few seconds and use the back of the seat for a rest. After getting use to facing the tree I doubt if I'll ever face away again unless I'm on a ladder stand or one of those pieces of junk Treelounges I still have.Facing the tree has sold me.I haven't bow hunted for a long time. For bow hunting facing the tree would have a disadvantage. For gun hunting it's hard to beat.

[&:][&:] ....what the heck do you hang
your stand on???

I try and hang my stand on the backside of the tree, facing away
from where I think the deer will come.

They both have their advantages . Depends where and what your hunting .

I don't like looking at tree bark all day so I face away from a tree. If you plan on sitting in a tree all day always face north.

I guess a little of both. I face the tree for archery. I can put the tree between me and the animal if I need some cover so not to be seen.

I always face away from the tree. I also sit on the backside of the tree from the trail. When I do fall asleep, The superior predatory instinct that I have, always wakes me up when a deer is approaching.:D

If Bow, I stand facing away from the tree, after a few hours I'll sit still facing away. Gun I'll just sit, still facing away.

I face away from the tree. But now that I think about it, when I nod off if I was facing the tree, busting my noggin against the tree would wake me up! :D

I had one of the semi rounded extrusion TL's. After a email to TMA Treelounge replaced it with the newly revised model like Bob Hice originally started with. The new version with the semi rounded extrusions are no longer being made. The new models are still powder coated ,but it's back to the squared material.I've had a couple people contact me about selling it.I've decided to keep it and use it if I need more then my Gunslingers out.The replacement has never been put on a tree.Being it's like my original TL I got back in the early 90's it should prove to be a safe stand to use.I wouldn't give 50.00 for a dozen of the semi rounded models.Your life is worth more then that.
