Synthetic sock liners or not?

I have been using synthetic sock liners, (polypropelene,Coolmax, etc..), with a SmartWool outer sock for several years. Are there better sock liners? I'm wondering if I should just have the wool against my feet instead of the synthetic liners. Or maybe a wool sock liner?

Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I use a thick polypropelene sock instead of a wool sock.I find them warmer in our harsh Alberta climate.

I use a thin liner then a marino wool blend sock. It has worked well the past 3 seasons.

I think your combo is best.
