what scope for 454?

I have a new Ruger 454 and looking for advise on a scope? I'm leaning toward a Red Dot but wondering if anyone thinks you need any magnification? Most Red Dots have none that I have seen other then a few aimpoints with 2x. I have a Bushnell Holo-Sight on my turkey shotgun and love it, anyone use that, and what is your opinon on it?
Any ideas and or suggestions are appreciated, thanx :D

I have a 7 1/2" Ruger SRH ,I use either a 30mm Millit red dot sight or a Bushnell 2x6 x 32 scope . The red dot is used for most hunting and the scope is mostly used shooting groups. Both have held up for several 1000 rnds . The Millit red dot 1" or 30mm fit the ring spacing ,not all do. Wear your ear plugs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It depends on how long of a shot you'll be taking with the 454. That round is capable of taking a deer at well over 100yds and if you're comfortable shooting that far off, I'd suggest either a 4X or a variable. I've either owned or still own pistol scopes from Leupold, Nikon and Burris on some T/C handcannons and they all held up well. Nothing against Leupold or Burris, but I've got a couple of Nikon 1.5-5X variables and absolutely love them!! They're very bright, clear and cost about 100 bucks less than the variable from Leupold. The Leupie does have a higher magnification(8X), but I don't think you'll need that much with the 454. This is just my opinion on what I'd do. Good luck and congrats on the new toy.
