SUmmit Broadhead Backpacker

Has anyone tried the Summit Broadhead Backpacker? It looks like an awsome stand. Is it hard to climb and is it comfortable?

I bought one last year & after using it once sold my old stand. I really like Summit Stands, very light, quiet, & comfortable. Great Product just my .02

I had it and it was a decent stand but I didn't like assembling it, kind of noisy. In the end I sold it and went with a lone wolf and will never look back.

Just bought this one, Summit Mega Bucks Bushmaster Climbing Treestand at Cabela's for $149.99, tried it out on a tree in my back yard, and love it. Can't wait for opening day on the 15th of Sep. here in CT. They also have the Broadhead Backpacker for $209.

The broadhead backpacker is an awesome stand!

I tried it out at the Sportsman's show here in Richmond, VA a few weeks ago. The reps from Summit were there and I talked to them in detail about what I want, where I hunt, etc....

The guy had me get in the stand (attached to a cheesy "telephone pole" display thing). The stand is quiet and rugged as all heck. I weigh in at 205 lbs and 6' tall. I easily fit in the stand and was comfortable. The bizarre thing was the guy said to me, "try this.... you want sturdy? ....JUMP!" I was like, huh?!? [&:] Then I figured, what the heck, it ain't my stand, it's a demo at a show. So, stood up, holding onto the top platform and jumped up and down on the bottom platform. It never moved, never budged, didnt' make any loud creaky sounds either. It just dug deeper into the display pole, that's all. I couldn't believe it was that strong!

Long story short: Summit stands RULE! [8D]

P.S. I am getting the bullet backpacker series because I not only bowhunt, but I have a Marlin 30-30 w/scope and need a versatile stand to handle both scenarios. The backpacker series stands fold flat as a dime too!

Do you have to worry about your arms getting tired when climbing in these open stands?

Kevin,

I bailed out on the Bullet Packpacker climber and got the Viper X4 instead. Right at the last second too.... I was hanging out and talking to another guy looking at Summit's too. He mentioned that, yeah, the Backpacker series are awesome 'cause they fold flat, but, then again, you have to hook up the big "V" bracket and screw in the big (attached) wingnut. There is a possibility for it to make noise. The Viper X4 is identical to the Bullet Packpacker, except it doesn't fold flat. It is just as rugged, just as strong, and is super quiet!
