RE: Tree Lounger Climbing Stand
Thanks for the welcome back OEH. I had a couple personal issues why I decided to leave for awhile.I'm back for who knows how long? Yes I was real happy to hear Bob Hice was back running the show. If I had known I would have contacted him first before going to TMA. Like we both know and mentioned how poor TL's customer service was.In fact today I sent a Thank You card to Bob Hice and a girl Sherry for getting this mess straightened out.Bob Hice had nothing to do with the new version I bought. He was already gone. He could have very well refused to do anything to help me.I always thought allot the way he ran his company. I was surprised he sold it. If you do get in the market for another climber do yourself a favor and check into the JRH Gunslingers. Buddy if it came down to using one or the other the TL's would be gone. No questions asked.Much easier to climb with,no turning around. You face the tree but you're not right on top of it.You can use the tree for a rest or the rail on the back of the seat.I would put the comfort as good as the TL's. Much easier to stand up.The tree gives you great cover.A first class climber for less then the basic TL costs.I'm sure there will be more being said here. I'll be checking for awhile.Good reading your comments.Being I've been in the same situation I know how accurate you were.

RE: Tree Lounger Climbing Stand
from the previous statements i thought the problem was with the new leveler. ive read the last couple replies and im still confused because you havent come right out and said it. did you slip down the tree with the new style lighter version tree lounge on its own or with the new leveler in use? did you slip while climbing or descending. what type of tree was it? was it icey or raining? i have put many hours in my old style tree lounges and havent used the new style much. if your saying the newer style semi round tube model slips on its own and is a widow maker i will be looking for a replacement also. i have never herd of complaints of the new style lighter version slipping. i have only seen talk of the the leveler being the reason. please clarify so i can decide what to do.

RE: Tree Lounger Climbing Stand
liquidorange actually it could be both. The new version slips on me with or without the Leveler. When I had the worst slip was when I came down approx 4 feet not sure what happened. Yes I'm talking about the new version with the semi rounded frame and in the vee section. I had just loosen up my safety belt when it broke loose.I did have the Leveler on that time. It recaught the tree luckly. When I carefully got down the Leveler was bent and the stand was pretty mangled. TL did replace both.I personally think the Leveler gave way. I'll never know for sure. I've had this same new version type stand slip ascending and decending. I'm sure the Leveler didn't have anytrhing to do with that. I only open it when I get up to my hunting height.Closed it before coming down. Like mentioned before I've had the original TL since 93 and never the slightest slip. You asked if it was icy or raining. The 4' slipped the first day of GA's BP season. It was still to warm for comfort.I remember that day well. It was one I went before daylight until dark remembering how hot it was and very clear. So weather was not a factor. I was asked to sell the new version a few time. Soark was one who asked about buying it. I refused.I couldn't in my own judgement feel comfortable selling something that was a death trap.My suggestion is if you have the semi rounded TL contact TL before using it again. They are poor design and destin to injury or kill ya. Last year I refused to use my new version. I used my two Gunslingers and the Old Model TL I have.

RE: Tree Lounger Climbing Stand
To add more. I was afraid I would lose it like I have before.
You'll notice in the vee section they used the semi rounded extrusion. The old model and the new one I received last week have the squared angle.I'm not an engineer but common sense tells you you don't want a rounded surface to grip or bite into the tree.I see from the new one I got Bob Hice quickly changed that poor design. The new version was lighter. That possibly could account for some slipping. Not as much weight for leverage. The newly revised one is back to being heavier again like the original were.Treelounge has known for a long time there were problems. Apparently the other owner didn't care.Bob Hice does care about his customers and fellow hunters.I'm not saying TL will do anything. I can't speak for them of course.I know when I contacted TMA it worked miracles.I have the names and email addresses but I won't post them here.If you need this info email me and I'll get it to you. During hunting season I'll be in and out so it might take a little time getting them to you. Put in the subject box Treelounge. If not the Big X will come into play. I wish all of you luck this season and becareful using these new versions. No deer is worth getting severely injured of killed over. Ruger Redhawk |
RE: Tree Lounger Climbing Stand
thanks for the in depth info. i will contact the t.l. people to see about getting some answers and maybe a replacement or fix. the rounded edges seem like a bad idea but i havent had a problem yet. i bought the new version because of the great track record of the company and the reliability of my old stand. i had no idea they sold the company and the revisions were part of the new company. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!

RE: Tree Lounger Climbing Stand
liquidorange, You're welcome. I was contacted by the other member who I couldn't remember who he was last night. I gave him the TMA information he might need. I dealt with a young lady Sherry at Treelounge. She was who contacted me first after TMA contacted them. Not sure what her title would be there at TL.She seemed to be quite knowledgeable.By now I'm sure they all are after all these complaints.LOL. I advise if they go to replace it ask for the newly revised BH one. I was offered one of the new versions or the BH one. That was a easy question to answer.Let us know how you make out.
L.O. I reread your question. I have used all my Treelounges on Nothing but Georgia Pines. Ruger Redhawk |

RE: Tree Lounger Climbing Stand
I own an old tree lounge. In my youth (21 in 16 days) i don't mind lugging that sucker around, but it is kind of bulky, heavy, and sometimes noisy. However, once i get up in the tree, i am glad that i did all of that. I don't think i will ever sell it, because it is a quality stand, and i guess for the added comfort and safety, you have to sacrafice somethings. As I get older, hopefully i will aquire some private property to hunt on, and then I can just leave it on a certain tree for most of the season.. I do like how it folds up flat, which allowed me to rig up an easy way to strap my bow on so i can ride in somewhere on a bike to hunt.

RE: Tree Lounger Climbing Stand
I keep reading allot are saying their Treelounges fold flat. Hmmm ! Mine telescopes in.That is a nice feature TL designed.Makes it allot easier to carry.
