Pistol Scopes

I have a Ruger Super Redhawk and i have been wanting to put a red dot scope on it. I have been trying to find some good scopes and I have heard the the leupold gilmore would stand up to the recoil of the 44 mag. Any thoughts on other red dot scopes that would be good for my pistol?

I would recommend going with a scope over a Red Dot.I ordered a Leupold 4x28mm. On another forum I was given a few opinions from those who have used 4power handgun scopes. They recommended to get a 2x instead .I called and changed my order to a 2x Leupold.I asked a guy at work today the same question and he said go with a 2x.
Midsouth and Natchez has them for 219.99.That must be the going price. Midsouth,Natchez and BassPro have them for the same price.

WG, if you're not set on a red-dot, take RR's suggestion and go with a regular scope. Leupold and Nikon both make fine pistol scopes. And like RR said, 2X will be plenty for your 44mag. If you decide to go with a variable, Nikon makes on in 1.5-5X that is awesome and it won't break the bank. I've got a Leupie 2X on a 45-70 Contender and three of the Nikon variables on Encore's in 22-250, 308 and 450 Marlin and they've held up very well. As for the Gilmore, the only place that I've found that offers them is Natchez and they run from $150-240.

RR, I was told the same thing, to stick with the 2X scope. With my "old eyes" I think the 4X would be better for me! I'm shooting a RSRH with a 2X Simmons. Yeah, I know , but it came with the gun! I wish I could try a 4X in the field before I put out the money. The 2x just isn't doing it for me!
