Default Motorola T5710 Radios

Anybody ever use this model FRS/GMRS Radio? Wondering if they would be a good choice for hunting and family stuff too. I picked up a pair for about $50, but haven't opened them yet. If you fine sportsmen tell me they are junk, they just may be returned after Christmas... Thanks for your input

I do not think that I would call them "junk". Almost all of the current FRS/GMRS radios on the market are about the same in terms of features and transmission range. One or two companies provide slightly better quality radios and/or more features but that is debatable. Motorola would be one of those companies in my opinion.

As long as you are aware that the "5 mile range" or "2 mile range" means under ideal conditions then I don't think you will be disappointed with the units you purchased.

The simpler Motorola models are better. I have some of the original 'yellow' Motorola FRS units that are unbeatable, you can get them on ebay all the time for $15 each. The T5710 5 mile units use batteries faster and one of mine looses channel set every time the power is cycled. Not certain the 5 mile signal claim is worth it, and it only works on the lower 7 channels.
