Are cheap stands dangerous?
Hey all,
I don' t spend alot of time in the woods and really dont want to spend too much money on a clinbing stand. I look at a stand on Bass Pro Shops called the StrongBuilt Comanchee Cable Climber. It' s on sale for $99.98 (Usually $129). Any feedback will help. I know it' s steel but it' s not too heavy. I' m more concerned with the safety aspect. Thanks, Frank ![]() |

RE: Are cheap stands dangerous?
as long as it has been tested by the company and has been approved by TSA (I think thats it) then its not dangerous..
well actually if your 20 feet up off the ground with just a platform under you yeah all are dangerous.. but that one is no more dangerous than the rest |
RE: Are cheap stands dangerous?
i do have two hunters view climbers.bought them over three years ago,i changed the straps that go over your boots i put dog collars there, they looked stronger, other than that they work great

[&:]Just wear a parachute and you' ll be fine!![&:]
IF you think about, every tree stand is potentially dangerous, so wear your safety harness and your ok. |
RE: Are cheap stands dangerous?
As long as you don' t overload it' s weight rating it will be fine.

RE: Are cheap stands dangerous?
Welcome Frankieg to the forum,
All climbers or stands can be dangerious if not used properly. Some may be worse then others. It doesn' t matter if you buy the cheapest or most expensive climber always wear your safety belt.Always look your stand over before using for missing or damaged parts.Buy whatever one is comfortable to you and check the weight capacity.Do not exceed the weight capacity. It' s recommended buy a stand approved by the TMA.Stay away from the NEW Version Treelounge. It' s a death trap.
