Help with my clothing setup
My current setup for my upper body is the following:
Cabela’s Merino wool base layer
Rivers West Merino wool Henley
Cabela’s primaloft Vest
Cabela’s Grand Teton primaloft jacket
Generic orange softshell
I hunt from a tripod stand and try and sit as long as I can. I hunt in MN in early November.
I stayed mostly warm in the 20s-30s but the softshell just wasn't cutting the wind out on the second day. (15-20MPH)
Looking for advice if I should replace the softshell with another outer layer? If so what would you recommend that is lightweight but still windproof?
Thanks
Chad

Quality material helps immensely but I do get experimental when dealing with freezing conditions in a treestand. I like using the elastic part of an old hunting sock around my wrists with a heat pack placed over my pulse. Then I take the lower part of the socks and make a necklace out of them with some shoestring and place them over my chest with a heat pack in them. Little things like that help ALOT if sitting still in a stand.
