Good pair of gloves
I really enjoy hunting in the cold weather; except that my hands can't stay warm. I have a minor circulation problem that means my hands get cold; and once that happens the day is ruined. I've tried a number of pairs of gloves with little luck. Can anyone suggest a good pair of gloves, that are functional and keep your hands warm? I'm willing to forgo cost if they work.
Thanks in advance |
I can't recommend a brand of gloves because I cannot shoot with any glove that is warm, even the mittens and cloves that allow you to poke your trigger finger out of the glove. However, several venders sell a tube, they used to call them muffs when women used them in the 50s and 60s. Check Cabelas, they sell them. They hang around your neck on a strap and you stick a hand in each end of the thing and when you want to shoot or do something just pull them out. If you stick a hand warmer inside before you get on stand your hand will be really toasty and unemcumbered when you want to shoot

I have a muffler for when I am hunting deer on stand. But if I try to do any small game hunting or outside work I can't keep my hands warm. Appreciate the suggestion. :s4: |
Can't help you with small game, If it is cold I put a hot hands hand warmer in to a pocket on each side of my vest or jacket and alternate hands to keep them warm. I wear very thin Bob Allen shooting cloves, leather with no lining but they do nothing for warmth but do protect against thorns.

The hand muffs that I own go around your waist and I put a hand warmer inside. When it's really cold I wear a thin pair of gloves also. Works pretty good and I live in Vermont, on the Canadian border. Trust me, it can get pretty cold up here during rifle season.

If it is below -40 I wear my kangaroo hide mitts. If warmer than that, my elk hide gloves make the trip.

Not sure if this would work for you but try a quality "fishing glove". I have a wool lne with Thermax set that I like. Inside the glove, both on the palm side and backhand side stick a "Toasty Toes" chemical heating pack.

Think of "layers" just like the rest of your clothing !
Look for glove "liners". http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/searc...oducts&x=0&y=0 If it's cold enough I will have 3 "layers" of gloves on and still able to use all my fingers. |
slip a hand warmer against your wrist in your sleeve cuff closest to your veins and see if it helps.. with glove on of course
