Wool Jacket

As I get older the cold bothers me more so this year I'm looking to buy a good wool jacket or the best warm jacket I can buy that is not so bulky I cant get the gun to the sholder or pull back my bow.

I have looked on line at King of the Mountain, Silent Predator, and Sleeping Indian wool cost all very pricey just trying to decide it they are worth the money in keeping you warm. I mostly hunt from a stand.

I also looked at sikta but not sure about how warm it would keep you in 20 degrees in a tree stand.

Looking for anyone who has any input.

Thanks

nothing like wool

I have a king of the mt jacket and pants, Very warm and durable. I have a couple jackets and pants from remington , there nice gore tex lined. But my favorite for stalking, ground hunting, still hunting. I love woolrich. I have a heavy but comfortable jacket, wool loden pants. and wool plaid shirt. It's quiet, keeps you warm even when wet, and is not restrictive when moving.I grew up wearing the pennsylvania tuxedo.Other outfits i wear in tree stands, ground blinds, and out west. But the wool i wear all over the east coast hunting.you cant go wrong.

Filson Double Mackinaw.

Not cheap but it will last forever and keep you warm in anything.

Looks great too. Very traditional.

Sleeping Indian Wool is definitely worth it, atleast with the response my uncle gave after purchasing one. He said it is really pretty great,

Have you considered a fleece jacket instead of wool? Just as warm as wool, lighter, and dries faster.

Something like this one that Cabelas sells: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabel...h-All+Products

I'd also suggest you take a look at some of the wool products cabelas has. Cabelas has a couple of wool/wool blend lines and the items I've bought (wooltimate) are of very good quality.

The Wooltimate stuff is very nice and I plan to pick some up after the first of the year. Talked to a few of my friends in Calgary and they swear by it.

Cabelas also has a Berber fleece line that gets great reviews.

Another vote for the Filson Double Makinaw. A classic style. Warm, quiet and durable. Mine is something like 30 years old and in still in darned good condition considering what I have put it through.
