Cabelas Colorphase
 

anyone try the new cabelas colorphase clothing. changes colors with the temperatures of each season. i love the idea just curious how well it works . i know its pretty new so some people prob havent gotten a chance to use it from the fall to winter.

I second that.

I don't criticize the makers or marketers for making a buck off gadget junkies and if it makes the junkies happy everyone comes out a winner.

But don't try to tell me the stuff will give you an edge in the field. If you can hunt you can kill game in jeans and a flannel shirt just like our dads and grandpas did.

i agree. the indians and the cavemen and cowboys and all never had camo. they rubbed mud on their faces and got to business ha ha but really its the skill and right place at the right time that is the big factor. of course times are changing and the technology is out of this world now and some things it helps to change with the times but when you look at old family photos or pictures in your hunting club and you see the guys back then with their jeans and lumberjack shirts on standing with their bucks you know that alot of the stuff we use now is unecesary. i was just curious about it caus it looked cool but i wouldnt ever buy it

to a certain extent i agree about avoiding gimmicky gadgets that are unnecessary for hunting but lets get real here guys, if your flannel wearing grandpa had the means to use a trail camera he sure as heck would have.

I've been sucked in by the occassional gadget -- most are gimmicky junk. When you are hunting a color blind animal, pretty much any camo that breaks up your outline a bit will work (and isn't absolutely necessary anyway, but I believe it helps). Scent absorbing clothing? Don't see how it can work given that you are breathing all over everything -- I do use a cover scent though. UV brightener destroying detergent -- please. . . But, every once in a while you find a gadget that works -- I keep a Butt Out tool in my pack, best gimmick ever invented.

i agree with the buttout tool. best invention yet. its always the simple products that you would never think of that work the best. some of this stuff they have they try to hard to make something that really doesnt 100% increase odds of bagging that buck. yes a gadget here and there is good to buy just to change with the times. i wanna know if anyone has used that ozonics odor gadget you hang in your tree and it gives off a scent electronically or covers ur scent. its a box u hang above you in your treestand. seems very expensive and unessecary but maybe its worth it? ozonics?

Where I hunt (evergreens) this would not provide much if any advantage. What I plan to try this year are some strips of camo burlap that have natural foliage attached - a ghillie suit of sorts, but not enough to get in the way when bow hunting. This would be some nice camo as well as added scent cover and cost virtually nothing.
