shopping for a tree stand
Anyone have any experience with Huntersview stands? Specifically the HVTC-400?
A link to their web site - http://www.huntersview.com/03hvtc400.htm Thanks. |

Check out Lone Wolf they are about 10lbs lighter and will be much quieter.

RE: shopping for a tree stand
I would say get a stand with a good sling seat and backrest pad. The Lone Wolf stand in nice but very uncomfortable.....the straight seat is just unbearable.

I have the Big Daddy ...it' s ok, but I' ll not buy another one. The seat needs something solid under it & at first it was making some noise. You get what you pay for.

Take a look at the Summit line of treestands, I just got a Viper XLS climber and I really like it so far, its quiet , comfortable, weighs 19lbs. and seems to be very sturdy.

I paid $259.99 plus shipping (worth every penny) for my Viper Ultra, it is a version above the XLS. They are the same except the Ultra comes with a foot rest and a gun rest. They also come with a harness. Cabelas says it is $39.99 and Bass Pro says it is $49.99 (the harness). Looking in my Cabelas right now and the XLS is... drum roll please... $239.99. You can probably find it cheaper but it is worth the price. Comfort is worth it ;). I am wanting to buy a vest that your harness slips in cause that harness gets messy. |
RE: shopping for a tree stand
I don' t care for the metal mesh-type bottom on the Hunters View. I was looking at one in a crowded store a few years ago & I could hear the mesh vibrating over the background noise as we were moving it around & checking it out. I was going to get one because of the price but I waited another year & bought a Summit. Couldn' t be happier with my choice.

RE: shopping for a tree stand
Hey Sqrl Klr, those Hunter' s View stands aren' t too bad. My brother picked up one fo this season at Walmart for $98 ! It' s doing it' s job so far after a week in the field but I question it' s long-term use. I' m not sure it' ll hold up for more than a few seasons. We' ll see.
