Default Crossbows

I'm new to the forum and really need to get rapidly educated on crossbows. From what I've learned so far, I need to look into Parker, Horton, Tenpoint and Excal to name a few, but here's my question:

What is the best "all around" xbow (make and model) between $350-$500? My priorities are accuracy and reliability.

I also understand that I may need to shy away from Barnett? And is there any other models I should avoid (for whatever reason) regardless of the manufacturer?

Thanks for your help,
DLP

you named a bunch of great crossbow companies. need more info though. for starters you really need to get to a shop and hold a few. if your far away from a store maintanance will be an issue so the recurve styles like the excaliburs would be a top pick. there warranty is legendary. if it were me i would get an axiom. it only comes as a kit and includes everything you need. its super light weight too. heres where i got mine. http://www.outdoors4less.net/proddet...58&ovcrn=75126

I will speak for a Parker Tornado. Have used it only one season, but (knock on wood) it has performed superbly. Simple to use. Smooth co**cking and lightning fast. Shoots superbly tight groups. Fits me better than the Ten Point that I had. And seems well balanced.

The Parker Tornado plus is a better crossbow hunting equipment for hunting with long ranges. It is quite precise.

I have used Barnett and I love them. I got the Wildcat and it is great. I got my son a little Phantom jr. Never had problems. Hits where I point. Tight groups. What more can you ask.

Buy quality the first time, 10pt and it'll last you longer than you want to keep it.

I agree, buy quality the first time and you won't regret it. Under $500? You're only real option is the Excalibur Axiom kit. Awesome bow, simple and durable. It will last longer than you do!
