Rubber smell on new Burlys
I bought a new pair of Lacrosse Burlys and I can smell them from the other side of my garage...whats the trick to getting rid of the smell?
Thanks |
I started a post in archery. Worst smell I have ever had with a new pair of rubber boots. Some say put out in heat like a hot day.

They have to outgas. The smell is left over from the manufacturing process. It's kinda like that new car smell. A bunch of boots in a box will have a hard time outgassing because of the confined space. They need to be outside for a while. I bought a new camo PVC pancho that had that smell. I sprayed both sides with scent-away and hung it up to dry in my shed with the windows open for 2 weeks. The smell vanished and I take it with me everytime I hunt. Just put them outside.

i just put my new alpha burly's outside too.
stunk like hell! |
I just wear mine before hunting season doing scouting and other things, smell goes away.

I've heard that baking soda works, that or soaking them in a bath of scent free detergent.

nothing will work.as they get older smell is reduced but still there.as you walk the rubber flexes and out comes the rubber smell.
this is not offensive to deer,at least i dont see it hunting.if you are in area where no man has walked, i could see it but deer know smell of man and live with it. ELIMITRAX system gets rid of smell and you dont need to wear rubber boots, thats nice too, leather boots are much better on comfort etc. but they are bulky/warm . i had buck walk right down trail i walked into my stand 2 hrs after with a new pair of LACROOSE ALPHA BURLEYS,did not seem to bother him at all. those boots are 2 years old and still stink of rubber ........ |
