Climbing Treestand Carrying Options

Looking for ideas for a better set of backpacking straps for a climbing stand? The factory ones are not very suited to longer walks. The stand is a Summit Viper.

I had a good set of padded straps on my last Viper but someone decided they needed that stand more than me!:mad1: I picked up a set of padded straps over on archerytalk dot com and they make a world of difference.

You can find better straps pretty easily in camping and bacpacking catalogs, I've even bought a pair of well padded rifle slings on clearance at Wal-Mart and adapted them for a climber. Providing some padding between you and the frame of the stand will also improve your comfort, a folded blanket can serve as a pad and keep you warmer while sitting as well.
