RE: Columbia Silent Stalker Rain Gear
Tim,
I don' t know anything about Columbia Rain Gear but I bought Browning' s Packable Rain Gear and it' s just what I was looking for. Light weight, Gore-texed,very well made, quite, breathable, and non insulated. Price was pretty good too!

RE: Columbia Silent Stalker Rain Gear
Just took delivery of the goods and here' s my quick review:
Just tested this gear in reasonably tough hunting conditions. On day one I lent it to my hunting buddy. It was heavy rain and cold, in mountainous terrain. He arrived back to camp well after dark, after a long wet and cold day.
His clothes under the gear were dry, apart from areas of heavy sweat e.g. Under where your rifle lies across your back.
Had trouble getting the gear back he was so impressed.
Next day I took the gear, did a hard mountain climb (After Chamois) and it was very cold and windy, but no longer wet. Shot a chamois and carried it out for 3 hours on my back. A lot of the way through thick and prickly mountain scrub.
Found the gear warm, I did sweat in it, but in the conditions you' d sweat in anything. No visable signs of damage after giving it a reasonably hard time.
Very quiet when rubbing against scrub.
The camo pattern (Mossy Oak Break-up) seemed to work very well in the stalk. Chamois have very good eyesight (Some say like a 6 power scope.) I got within 50 yards on quite open mountain top terrain.
Criticisms:
No zips on the Jacket pockets.
No Bino pocket on chest.
When I washed it to get all the blood off, it took a long time to dry.
Some seedheads stuck to it.
Overall I' m very happy with it so far.
