Bushnell back track
 

I purchased one. Very nice. We were tracking a pig the other night and got lost in the woods on adjoining property. Luckily we called someone at camp and they drove to our last spot and started honking their horn. we were not 20 yds from the fence but were totally turned around. This is the second time I have been lost at night. Well no more. This compass with GPSlets you mark up to 3 locations and you just follow an arrow back to the selected location, tells you how many yards or miles you are from the spot. Me and my son played a game, I would take an item and go hide it in the woods, mark the location and give my son the back track, he would follow the arrow and found the item ever time.
You could mark the spot where an animal was hit then up to 2 more times on blood trails. Just follow your arrow back. Or mark your base camp then up to 2 more spots I got mine on ebay with a 55.00 buy it now price.

I bought one at the local big box sporting good store for the same price. I found out that it doesn't work when you are carrying a gun, the metal affects the arrow I guess. I used it on public land when I wasn't really lost, I marked the position of my truck and went into the woods about 1/4 mile in an area that I know really well and used it to get back without using any common sense. It sent me in the wrong direction for about 200 yards before I figured out that it wasn't working right, once I set the gun down and got a few steps from it the arrow was pointing in the right direction. It's great for finding my trail camera on state land, sometimes it can take a little while to find it as I stick it off the beaten path for obvious reasons.

I got one for Christmas .
I tried it last week and seamed to work great .
I even set one point from inside my truck .
Seams like if mwtal effected it then my truck would have realy boggled it .
It work great .
I ,ll have to try it with my rifle just to see ,,,

I used mine this weekend and didnt have any problems, but I was mostly on my 4 wheeler. Whats cool is a set it at home and could see how many miles I was from home. I also set it at the blind and checked distances to clearings it will tell you how many yards to a spot, so I used it as a range finder.

Just checking, but when you turned the compass on you did wait till the satelite icon quit flashing did you ? and you did hold the compass flat when tracking or marking spots right ?

Is it critical to hold it level, I mean on a hillside does it need to be level with the ground or level with the horizon? Maybe the loose nut holding it is the problem

I dont know how critical it is but the directions just say flat or was it level :D I would say level with the horizon
