Help me pick a chair for my new blind.

I just picked up a new Ameristep blind and I need a comfy but not too heavy seat. I usually go about 3/4 of a mile into the woods during gun seasonand with my backpack, gun and blind my load is alreadyabout35 pounds.

Cabelas has one that looks pretty sweet and can carry a fair amount of stuff.

While the Ameristep one is light and has a carrying strap. And can carry some stuff too.

RE: Help me pick a chair for my new blind.

I have the #2 stool, they're very comfortable and lightweight for blind sitting, and if you pack a camo poncho that will cover both you and the stool you may not even need the blind. Their only downside for me is their tendency to clank if you shift enough to allow the backrest to move away from the main frame(or while walking to your spot), but a strategically placed strip of moleskin on each side will fix that.

The bucket model is nice too, but unless you can find a stump to mount it on you'll need to pack a bucket, which is somewhat inconvenient. Bucket mounted seats also suffer from what I refer to as "drum syndrome", they magnify any sound you make while sitting on them. The swiveling models can be especially noisy.

Here's what I use with my Ameristep blind. Comfy, holds a drink and comes in a bag with a strap. Easy to carry and only weighs 7 lbs.

I have that similar chair but without the arms. Cuts down on weight and gives me more freedom of movement when bowhunting. In fact i can fit the chair inside the pack for my blind.

I have one like this:

The seat part on mine is made out of the same fabric but its Realtree brand along with a camo bag it goes in. It's great because you can turn around and also adjust the legs so you are level. (There is no such thing as level ground on the land I hunt)

It would be better if it had a backrest. But oh well
