RE: after reading the "rocky boots" thread..
I just bought a pair of Red Wing boots for work and they are $150 worth of Chinese junk too. These boots make my feet sweat like crazy. Red Wing uses a waterproofing material called Sympatex. It is advertised as Red Wing waterproofing. This crap does not let your feet breath. I will NEVER buy a pair of boots made with Sympatex again. Beware of other brands made by Red Wing such as, Carhart, Irish Setter, Vasque and Worx.

I just wear my Chippewa's. Sadly they are made in china as well. But I take the things everywhere and have no complaints.

I have a pair of Irish Setter Big Game Tracker GTX boots that I really love. I have worn these in various weather conditions and terrain, and really love them. Unfortunately, they don't make them anymore. These have 800 grams of Thinsulate, but I would love to find a similar boot with 400 grams.

I wear Redwing Loggers, and have for sometime now. I had a pair split between the leather and the sole after 2 years of HARD wear. I sent them in for repairs, fully expecting to pay for it, but they resoled and refurbished them for free, shipping included, and had them back to me in a few weeks. Redwing will stand by their product, and I will stand by them as long as they do.
