What's the word on this pack? Is it waterproof and how does it work for treestand hunting?

i don't have that pack, but i do have the commander.

it is not waterproof, it is a great pack and goes everywhere with me. small enough for still hunting, yet big enough to take out some quarters (blacktail) if need be.

When I started hunting I saw the need to have a backpack to carry my essentials when Stalking and in the tree stand. My pursuit for a good pack started with a crappy Janspot back and ended years later with the Camelbak Striker you ask about.





The Striker has been on my back for every hunt and tree stand hanging over the last 3 years. It carries what Ineed to A. hang a tree stand (screw-ins, rope, ratchets, branch saw, jacket...etc) and for hunting (calls, scents, drag, water in bladder, screw-ins, extra clothing, etc).

From a hunting standpoint it meets all of my needs. The bag is very streamlined (baggy, huge, and cumbersome are attributes that I despise) and the water bladder works great. On both long stalking hunts and in the tree stand it has served its purpose well. No one likes extra baggage when they are walking long distances...I love it in that regard.

The only part I do not like is that it makes my back sweat, but it is something I can live with. My Striker has taken a pretty good beating and is still in fine shape. If it ever comes apart I think another one will be purchased.

Mine has held up well in heavy snow and light rain (never been in a torrential downpour).



Just my honest dealing and opinions after using this pack pretty rigourously. Would like to hear from others too. Hope this helps.
