Tires
I am looking at purchasing new tires for my Polaris 425 Magnumn 2*4. Do any of you have any suggestions. I will use them mainly for mudding but also for hard packed surfaces. Also how do you measure the tires to see what size you need.
THANKS. cabelascaleb |
RE: Tires
I have had great service out of goodyear mudrunners as they provide great traction in all terrain and light steering.Mud bugs are highly rated as well for an all terrain tire.I just bought a new rubicon and am trying gators on it as they are supposed to be a very good all terrain tire as well but at a more reasonable price. As to sizes I generally go one inch larger in diameter and one or two inches wider than the machine came with.If you go too big you will change your overall gearing too much and it will feel as if your machine has lost a lot of power.

RE: Tires
The Carlisle Trail Wolves are the best atv
tirea I have ever used even put a set on my wifes Bayou 220 and she goes where I go! |
RE: Tires
If I could afford them IT would be CARLISLE Trailwolves
They are a little Pricey here in Canada AL |
RE: Tires
For a tire that will perform well in the mud and on hard surfaces I second stubblejumper' s recommendation for the Goodyear Mudrunner. I had these on a Honda 300 and they were really nice. When I bought my Honda 450, however, I got a set of 27" Super Swamper Vampires as an extra set of tires for when it' s really muddy. The Vampires are better in the mud than the Mudrunners, but they' re not a tire you would want to leave on your machine year round. After hunting season when things dry up a bit, I put the factory original tires back on. I' ve never been stuck while running the Vampires. I' ve been through several mudholes that my hunting friends could not negotiate. So, for a pure mudding tire I recommend the Super Swamper Vampire. For a tire that' s also pretty good in the mud, but that you' ll keep on your ATV year round, I recommend the Goodyear Mudrunner.

RE: Tires
Hey Guys I was hoping some one could give me an idea on the aprox. cost of two different tires mentioned, and where to get them? Goodyear Mudrunner? Carlisle Trailwolves? Thanks. elknut1. |
RE: Tires
elknut, I use the Kenda BearClaws, I have found them to be excellent in all conditions and clean out nice. Mudrunners will be about 85-100 and the bearclaws will be 50 - 80. Try this link www.4atvtires.com.

RE: Tires
While the carlisle trail wolves may be great for harder terrain they lack the deeper lugs that would make them a top notch mud tire.If you are going to be travelling through a lot of deep mud or muskeg I would consider a tire with larger and deeper lugs such as the mudrunners, gators or mud bugs.

RE: Tires
Thanks for the tire recomendations. But how do I measure them. With just a ta1pe measure from top to bottom or what.

RE: Tires
All tires have the size marked on the sidewall.
