Cabelas Alaskan Guide Binoculars

Hey GuysI need a pair of binoculars and am
wondering if any one has ever bought Cabelas
Alsakan Guide binoculars and how good are they.
I am looking at the 10x28 binoculars as I like the
compacts for better carrying.Any help will be
greatly appreciated. Mike

I ordered those very ones a couple of years ago from Cabela's, but wasn't satisfied with the optics/quality for the asking price. Ended up going with the Bushnell Legends in the 8x32 glass instead.

RE: Cabelas Alaskan Guide Binoculars

A couple of years ago I also needed a pair of binocs. I went to a big sporting goods and told them I wanted to look at some quality binocs but wanted to take them outdoors to try them. They said, "no problem." I told them to bring out one of each brand of quality binocs in a 10 x 50. I purposely went to this store about 1 hour before dark. I tried 6 of the top brands.

I had the clerk stand behind me and hand me one pair at a time. I did NOT look at what the binoc was an would glass around trying to zero in on as much fine detail as possible. Some of these higher end binocs were easily and quickly eliminated. When I handed them back to the clerk I still did not look to see what they were and told the clerk no or maybe. I did not want to be influenced by the name or price.

I took my time because I wanted to buy only one pair that would last the rest of my life and if I had to spend a little extra to get the right pair than that is what I was going to do.

To make a long story short one pair stood way above the others and that is what I brought. Sworavski!! A lot of money but much better than the rest. After I looked through them it was very difficult to buy a different pair and I did consider it. I take them everywhere. Football games, hiking, fishing, etc. I've never reqrettred getting them and if I would have gotten a different pair I probably would have always been second guessin myself.

These may not be right for you but try to look through a half a dozen different pair without knowing what they are before you buy one.

I also have a small pair of 8x23 Nikons that cost me about $220 that I really like.

Good luck!
