Hunting boots
 

I'm looking for hunting boots for my 17 yr. old. Any suggestions on boots that provide the warmth for deer gun season (wis) and the lightweight for upland game. I'm trying to avoid two pairs if possible. Thanks.

I just got the LaCrosse 10" Hunting Pac Rt Ap 2000 gm. #283152. Very light weight 4.3 lbs, and comfortable. I used them in the fall for bow hunting and this winter for rifle season. Feet stayed warm and dry. $159.00.

Aye! Danner. They are not as comfortable as Rocky at first, maybe never depending how much he wears them. (they are stiff as heck brand new).

However, they will hold up much better. Provide better support for the ankle and arch. Overall a better boot, you might look at Irish setters made by redwings.

You have to break danners in, but once you do the are nice. Get the leather wet and wear for a day before using them.

I echo the Danners for a leather boot. Here in the North Country I only hunt with rubber LaCrosse insulated 18" burleys due to the deep snow we usually get.

Depends if your going to be walking or sitting. For sitting I use Irish Setter 1400 Grain Everest snow tracker but for walking and warmer weather sitting I use the Irish Setter 800 Grain Shadow Tracker, very light boot only 3 lbs combined.

I just got them so don’t know how they will hold up, they are not to pricy the Shadows are only 109 on sale and the 1400 Grain was 110 on sale. This a good time to by at most larger out fitters.

Just make sure you have 2 pairs of socks (1 liner sock & 1 high quality wool) on while sizing them, if you sitting get 1 size bigger, if walking get the actual size but still need a little toe wiggle room.

Then you good to go.

PS danner’s seem to be a good boot but they are nearly twice the money so I didn’t even try them on.

Meindl is a good choice, but they are expensive.
Cabela's sells Meindl under their own brand and they sell for less than $300, depending on model.

I like Danner as well for an all leather boot, they wear extremely well. I'm on my second pair of Canadian's finding them comfortable, light, never a weeping issueand a goodgripping sole.

If more then your wanting to spent I'd go along with checking out Irish Setter's. I was very pleased with mine for the money I paid.
