ATV hitch carriers
Does any one out there use a Tilt-A-Hitch or Versa Haul ATV carrier for their ATV. I have a big SUV and don't want to drive a trailer to the hunting land because it is a long trek and the trailer slows you down. I just want to know your experiences with them and if you prefer one over the other.

RE: ATV hitch carriers
I just wanted to bring this back to the top of the list because I really want to know what every one thinks about these hitch carriers.

would beat pulling a trailer around I guess.;) |
RE: ATV hitch carriers
After doing extensive research I'm going to order the ATV carrier from Versa-Haul. It seems to be the better unit because it doesn't have moving pieces like the Tilt-a-rack. I am going to install a set of Timbren suspension enhancers to help 2004 Toyota Sequoia with handling since so much weight will be on the rear springs. I didn't get much help from the members on this one but I hope this reply to my own post helps some one else the in the future with a similar question.

RE: ATV hitch carriers
I could not give you any sound advice either as I do not own one but, have seen them before. If I think you maybe talking about the ones that slide into a reese hitch.. Myself I like to use a trailer to transport with or just put it up on back of my pick-up..

RE: ATV hitch carriers
I use a trailer, it also give me a place to transport my deer without getting the bed of my Tacoma messy.

RE: ATV hitch carriers
Although they will probably hold the weight of your ATV, your hitch rating may not. Class III hitch is only 500 lbs tongue weight. The Versa Haul is 116 lbs to start leaving you just 384 lbs for your ATV. You may need to go to a Class lV hitch to be safe. Not to mention beefing up the rear suspension with some extra springs or better yet, air bags.
