RE: Best Knife Sharpener
the best knife sharpener is the guy holding the knife. learn to do it properly and you will have no problems. as for me, i use an oil stone with a rough and fine side to it. when you sharpen a knife, it is just like trying to make thin slices off the stone, no circles, and use the oil, once you get a good edge, it is just a matter of using the fine side of the stone to keep it in shape, unless you use the knife for other things is was not designed for.

RE: Best Knife Sharpener
LeeninVa1 is correct in his knife sharpening advice. The only thing I'd like to add is if you are in the woods taking care of game such as elk, you'll probably need to resharpen before you're completely done. I use a carbide knife sharpner for that, it'll put an edge back on your knife in seconds, I always carry one in my pack, it's pricless for such jobs as this. It costs about 10 dollars. If you need more info on them email me at [email protected] elknut1.

I second elknut1 on the carbide sharpeners for a quick edge. I have used them several times to finish off elk and moose. Isn't amazing how quick an elk will dull out a blade.
