non typical deer cam results

Well i got my first roll of film back and was a little
dissapointed. Out of 24 exp., I got 5 pictures of deer and
19 pictures of a empty clearcut. I called NON TYPICAL and they
said if I had the camera pointed to the rising or setting sun
it could activate the unit without a subject. They recommended
always pointing it towards the north unless in thicker cover.Anyone else run into this problem? These ghost pictures
all occured on one day of the 3days I had it out. Maybe a weather
change in conjunction with the rising sun? Let me know if this
is a normal thing for these cameras or should I try to
return it. The pictures were very clear and the deer were caught
at night, 5 minutes after legal shooting time. All does.

I have the cheap wal-mart cam and it works good. I face it to the east usually because of the rain coming from the west usually in our area. I have only got one ghost pics out of about 4 rolls. The downfall to it is battery life. I have some good pics of deer, coyotes and turkey.

I have some game cameras I made myself and some of the problems i've had are having a leaf or branch to close to the camera and when the wind would blow it would set off the camera. I think sometimes a bird will set it off and you don't get anything in the pic. I once set mine on a road in a clearcut just shooting across the road at the brush on the other side. All 24 pics went off the first day without anything in them, I guess it was wind moving the leaves on the brush across the road enough to set off the camera.

RE: non typical deer cam results

I have had my non typical for about 6 months. Only used about 4 rolls of film and had only 2-3 false takes. Had about 3-4 photos taken at night when foggy where you could only see the glow of eyes -besides that all have been very good. I took the camera out of case to use for pics of a friends deer he shot and those pics really suprised me with the clarity and quality. Another club member used a moultrie camera that he set up over a spin feeder. Every picture taken was of corn flying out of the feeder. Next set up every picture was of tree limbs moving in the wind= the quality of his photos was very poor compared to the non typical.

RE: non typical deer cam results

I just received my non-typical deer cam a week ago. The bucks in New York have almost shed their antlers. So, I am going to leave it in the box until August.

Thanks for the advice with regards to the sun and branches.
