Binoc Size
I'm thinking of upgrading my binocs. I have 10x42 kahles now. Is there a decernable difference between 10x42 and 10x32? The Leica 10x32 seem pretty nice.

You'll probably notice the difference in dim light. All other things being equal, the bigger objective lenses meanmore lightgetting throughto your eyes.

MM is right, if you divide your objective lens by your occular lens you will have what they call your "exit pupil" . 10x42 = 4.2 An exit pupil of 5 is considered nice bright glass & there is debate on how much more light your eye can benefit from. I would think that a pair of 8x40 byLeica orKahles would be ultra bright, razor sharp& get you deep into the shadows. Here's a link to some great info :

I really like my 10X32's. They're a good size.

I use 8X30 Zeiss and like the light weight and compact size. I find I don't need any more magnification.

I ended up going with the Bushnell 8X32 Legends. Here in WNY, I wanted a pair for turkey and deer hunting, and a pair that was light weight. The fact that they come with phase corrected lenses, are water proof, and have their new "Rain Guard" lenes coating as well sold me!!
Being in Gander Mountain and comparing several brands, Euro models included, I found the Legends to be an awesome pair for the money!! |
