leupold VX1 vs Vx11
im looking at getting a new leupold for my shotgun probably a 3-9x40, was originally looking at the VX11 but was wondering what the differences b/t the 1 and 2 are and if it is worth the extra $100 for the VX11. thanks

RE: leupold VX1 vs Vx11
Unless things have changed recently with the VXI's and VXII's, the VXII's have click adjustments, the VXI's do not. I really like my 3 x 9 matte VXII. I prefer Leupold scopes over everything else, excellent warranty backup. You can spend more, but have never found that I personally got any more scope.

I'll chime in here and agree with the loyalty to Leupold. I have been shooting a VXI for years with no issues. Taken elk with it from 150-450 yds and never had any issues. Especially with a shotgun, you will be pretty happy with this scope I think. The only thing you would really benefit from is a larger objective lens, which would give you better dusk/dawn light, but for that jump you are talking some $$ and for me it was never worth it.

RE: leupold VX1 vs Vx11
I have owned the VX1 & VX2. I have a VX2 on my rifle and it seems a little better at low-light conditions with identical features. My brother was lookingthrough a VX3 at dusk and he said it was comparable, if not better than my dad's zeiss scope and definately better than his Pentex lightseeker. I know a VX3 is alot more money, but it is critical to me to be able to judge a buck in low-light conditions.

That's right, even their lowest endscopes are excellent quality. I have six VX-1 or Vari-X 2 scopes on rifles, some 20 years old, with no complaints. I've not looked through another scope that I've liked better.
