RE: Best Ladder Stand on the market
i bought a ladder stand at dick's sporting goods before the season for 89.00, i liked it so well i tryed to buy another but they don't make them. its a huntersview. after christmas i was at walmart ,they had clearanced there ameristep ladderstands from 89.00 down to 48.00. these stands didn't have shooting rails but are built heavy. i set one up in the yard and made my own shooting rail from 1in conduint . i padded it up with pipe insulation. now i like them as good as my other. i use them for crossbow hunting and rifle so i can use the rail all season long here's a pic of the one i added the rail to.

RE: Best Ladder Stand on the market
Walmart only seems to carry the Hunters view stands at certain times of the year and even then it seems it is sketchy. I have 300 acres in WV andhave about ten of the 500lb buddy stands that I leave out all year round. Yes they are heavy but once set are quite comfortable with the added space. It makes it nice with the rail to be able to swing a rifle around in any direction. I have become so good I can set up the buddy stand by myself. Simply build it on the ground and walk it up against a tree. Get a climber stand and climb up the backside and do all the securing from the safety of your climber. Then go down and secure the rest on the ground. You can also call hunters view if you can't find their stands locally...the freight though might make no longer quite the deal.

RE: Best Ladder Stand on the market
"hunters view 2 man buddy stand.....$99 bucks at walmart when they carry them. 4' extension brings it to 16 feet for additional 39 bucks. holds 500 lbs."
That is a really good stand. We have one permanently installed at our place in OK.The attachment is much better thanother stands that i have seen. |
RE: Best Ladder Stand on the market
You are right on the attachment to the tree. The hunters view has 2 points of contact that bite into the tree whereas others such as the strongbuilt only have one. This makes it a much more solid stand in my opinion. Yes they are heavy but once you put them up how often do you move a ladder stand. If you plan on moving a lot get a climber.
