Freind of mine has rocky knee high boots, well theyre almost to the knees. They are aweswome and 600g thinsulate too. He wears them hunting and stays comfy so they must be pretty easy on the feet too

RWK, I have the same problem of large calves and cannot fit into a pair of rubber boots off of the shelf.
I do have a pair by LaCrosse rubber boots that fit, from their Burly line.
You should be able to find them at

Try a pair of pac boots , they have rubber soles and a cloth upper that's the right height for a high instep . Spray them down with some descenting spray before you go afield .

Cabela's Silent Stalk Sneakers
When stalking's the game, sneaker-like boots are the thing. Not only are these ridiculously comfortable and scentless but they give you more ground-feel than other boots as well. Pick up the Gore-Tex model so you can sneak through even the wettest places in complete comfort. 800/237-4444, www.cabelas.com.

RE: Rubber Boots

How is the durability of Muck boots? Especially if you go through briars with them? I read some great reviews of them when I was looking into what to get, but the durability sounded questionable if you go through any tough stuff. I ended up going with Lacrosse Alpha Burly Sport rubber boots. They have the rubber lower and the ankle is fitted, and the upper is rubber coated neoprene. The boots are lightweight and I don't have any issues walking miles in them if need be, and the rubber coating on the uppers doesn't allow briars to penetrate and catch. I'm going onto my 3rd season and they're doing well so far. The camo has about worn off the lower portion, but the integrity is still perfect.
