Who's using summit treestands?
Thinking about trying a summit goliath x5 this year. Any pros and cons on summit stands? Anyone using them that likes or don't like them? Any input will be greatly appreciated..

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
Anthony,
I have the Summit Goliath stand, used it over 50 timeslast season and plan on using it again this season. I love the stand. It's very roomy (especially if your a big man), strong, extremely quiet, and very easy to climb the tree with. As far as comfort, I may have taken a nap or twowhile in the stand :D, its that comfortable! The only issue is getting the correct angleon the stand at the bottom of the tree so it's thecorrect when you get to your hunting height. And that will come with practice! The stand is a little cumbersome to pack into the wood due to is size, but I'll live with that to have the all the other advantages I have already stated. |
RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I have the Summit Revolution (now discontinued) and I am very satisfied with it. It is a bit heavier and bulkier than their standard sit and climbs (Goliath, Viper, etc...) but the comfort level is superb. I would not trade it for another stand on the market.

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I have Summit Viper X4 from two seasons ago. It is AWESOME! So comfortable, so lightweight, and yet so rugged.
SUMMIT ROCKS!!! :D |
RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I have a Goliath that I purchased a couple of years ago. I absolutely love it. Being a big guy, it's nice having the extra room to move around and becomfortable. I have used the Viper as well, and it works, but it's nice to have the extra room.
It is the best climber of the 3 I have owned. The only negative to it is that the paint seems to flake off rather easily. Good luck. |
RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I put my big butt in the goliath ever chance I get. It's great, only drawback is getting back together after your out of the tree but that just takes practice. Also, I added the plastic stirrups that fit on the foot rest and that makes climbing it alot easier and you can also start at steeper angles.

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
sounds good, ill take it:D
I figured they were good stands, just wanted to hear it. Cab't wait to try one out. Thanks guys. |
RE: Who's using summit treestands?
i would get a summit flat out price, comfort, weight
i use my viper 6 out of 7 days a week from oct to jan ive use some other summit climbers and also have tried some of the new hang-ons the all work well |
RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I have the bullet from x-mas. I haven't use it in the field yet. But playing with it, I'm concern of noise on the standing platform. Not to hijack this, but how does it perform in the field withall of you that have used it?

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
summit bushmaster x5
|
RE: Who's using summit treestands?
yajsab,
My Summit Goliath is extremely quiet. There are no stand noises, just rock a rock solid platform. |
RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I don't think you can get more rock solid and comfortable than a Summit climber...
|
RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I have a summit cobra (discontinued). It's a very comfortable stand. The only downside is that it's a little bulky and does make some noise going up and down.

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I bought the Summit Viper X5 last year and LOVE it. Simple setup, light weight, quite, what's more to ask for.

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I understand it's a solid platform. What I mean is if you run your finger(s) along the pieces where you stand on, it has more noise than other stands. So, I just concern during THAT moment, things might go wrong. You know what I mean. :)

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I have the Summit Goliath X5 model as well. Love this stand!! The upper platform is wider, so it's more comfy for us bigger guys. The fact that it's rated for 350 lbs is the other reason I bought it. I picked mine up last year and was quite impressed with the way it climbs and the quietness on this stand. Those cables are the Cat's PJ's!!

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I agree with maytom, unless it's half the price and weight while having more strength and room, nothing exists or beats my Viper Xtreme. Awesome stand.

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
Ahh yea, I've had my goliath for a few weeks now. Have to say it blows everything away that Ive ever tried. GO SUMMIT!!:D

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
nodog, it was just a basic response that included the "price" comment because some on here are on a budget and consider that when purchasing. Ialso don't recall talking smack about any other particular stand, especially yours considering that in three post's you failed to mention what brand it was. If it works for you that's great, after all this is supposed to be a friendly forum and by no means a personal attack. In all fairness to you and Anthony, when it comes to stands you are right. Safety ismost important so spend the extra money to insure it.

RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I am waiting to hear what type of stand you have also. Thanks for the replys, JThunts, Maytom..
|
RE: Who's using summit treestands?
Lets just say it will climb a larger diameter tree, safely adjust to narrowing tree diameter and has no metal cable or stops on the cable to bang around when mounting it to a tree. It has no metal buckles or loose straps to clang around or leave at the bottom of the stand either.Just to name a few.:D
No offense taken JT, nonintended either. Welcome to the forum.:) Glad you like yoursAnthony.I know they are comfortable, taken many a nap in mine. I recommend some no-dose. Don't go hunting in one without it.:D |
RE: Who's using summit treestands?
I'm not even going to read through this thread ,because I'm definately a pro Summit user .I bought my Viper X4 2 season's ago and it's the very best stand I've ever used ,I've had a few nap's in it as well ,it's just that comfortable .I've had no problem's shooting from it.%The only problem I have is with the padded armrest's ,they give you tiewrap's to tie them down with and one arm keep's coming off on me .but just maybe that's my faiult not putting it up far enough on the padded area ,but it's not a problem that can't be fixxed .
Summit is a great stand and I'll be getting another when ever I decide to upgrade. nubo |
