Cuddeback is it worth the $$$
 

I was just wondering if a cuddeback camera was worth the money? I just can't see putting a $300.00 or more camera in the woods that some buddy can silp on to your land and take. Now if you had a place that you know it would by o.k. than I my consider it. Just my opinion

Not to me , I'm not Ansel Adams so higher resolution than the 1.3 MP my $98 Moultrie gives me is plenty .
If you need better than this:

then you need to stop hunting and take up bird watching or photo safaris . I have better things to do with $300-400 than waste it on a toy that will probably get stolen anyway . The ones that really kill me are the "homebrew" guys who put way more money into a home built game cam than a commercially available one of the same quality . If a homebrew gets stolen the camera is easily removable and even easier to hide , the cam in my Moultrie is built in and non-removable . Try hiding the heavily carved in name and SSN on the front cover , sooner or later someone who knows me will see it .

Kevan1 that moultrie takes a good pic. I cant see paying that much for camera. Have you had any bad pic.out ofthat camera? Some people are saying that thay getting bad pic. in the day time.

I own a Cuddeback and the Moultrie,Yes the Moultrie takes acceptable pics, and is only 98 bucks, and is easy to operate. But sometimes daytime pics are too bright, but not often. The mounting strings are kind of cheap and dont hold it in place tightly sometimes. ANd my biggest gripe is that the battery only lasts about 5 or 6 days, and less if it takes a lot of pictures, or it is cold, then it is usually only two to three. I have two rechargeable batteries, and just go out and change the battery and sd card every few days.

The cuddeback is also easy to operate, especially in easy mode. The pics are always good, it mounts very securely to the tree especially if you use the supplied wood screw to mount it, but I dont. It has password protection, again probably wont keep it from getting stolen, but at least they wont be able to use it if they do. But to me the best part is that the batteries(4 D cells) will last me for about 3 months, maybe only 2 and a half if Im getting lots of pics. but I usually get around 1500 pics on one set of batteries, I can put it out with a large capacity card in it, and leave it for weeks at a time if I want to and not have to worry about it missing anything. I also think it has a better range and motion detection than the Moultrie.
I say that the Cuddeback is worth the money if you can afford it, I dont regret mine at all, I do llike my other camera too but its still isnt the quality of the Cuddeback. Just my opinion..

I love mine.The one problem I did have was alot of daylight pictures of deer the animal was blurry.(from movement) After some emailing back and forth with a Cuddeback rep, he had me send it in to replace the circuit board. I sent it in on a Friday and got it back on Wednesday. It did cost me about $25 for me to send it and that also paid for them to send it back. (Was not too happy with that.) It now seems to be taking better daylight pictures. The batteries do last a long time. And being digital I don't waste money on developing a whole roll. Do the math on cost of film and developing a whole roll which might not have any good pictures on it, and include the cost of batteries. You will make up the cost of the Cuddeback in a short time I believe. I think Cuddeback is your answer.

I have three and I just ordered the new no flash that they came out with. I get about 3 months worth of pics on a set of batteries. I have mine attached to the tree with the screw and I feel secure with that. I tested my Cuddebacks against a Bushnell and Stealth cam that my buddies owned, we placed them in the same tree over looking a mineral lick, left them for a week and when we checked the pics, the cuddeback had double the pics of the bushnell, and the Stealth had only taken 3 pics compared to the 22 that the Cuddeback took[:-]

Thanks for all the info. I think a cuddeback is the better camera, you chould save money in the long run since the batteries last so long. But there are so much other hunting gear I want (I mean, need if the wife ask). I just don't know if I could get a $350.00 and up camera past her. but thanks again for the info.

Try looking on ebay,, I havent checked in a while, but Im sure you can get one off there for about 250 or so, maybe less, if you can find one of the 1.3 mp cuddebacks you should be able to get it for about 200 or so.
