Ground Blinds for Deer and Turkey

Folks I am getting a bit on in years and I am having a hard time climbing tree stands. I have been hunting a long time and realize their advantage but I am just not able anymore. My question, .... I want to try a ground blind. Does this way of hunting work well? Any recommendations? Any advice? I want to keep it simple. Thanks

Best,
JB

They both have there advantages/disadvantagesa fewadvantages of a ground blind is you can get away with a lot less movement,if you go with a popup ground blind(which i recomend,i have an ameristep doghouse) you can move them alot easier and they are way lighter. Good Huntin'

Ditto on the DogHouse. It's a bit tight for bowhunting though so I'd consider something with a little bigger floorplan that. Best piece of advice on ground blinds is to set them up and leave them there so the deer can get used to them if you are on private land. I'd also brush them in if possible.

I have taken many of deer from a ground blind including a nice 120" 8 pointer which was sniffing the brush tied to the side of the blind. I will only usea double bull blind because I have had 4 ameri-steps and they all broke on me. Little tip always keep the sun at your back because you wont be able to see through the camo mesh that well if it is hitting the side of the blind your lookin through. Another point you should look at in popup blinds is get a carbon lined one so that you have some scent containment.

Good luck
