Not to offend you Stevie, but there's nothing you can do w/that Sako that I can't do w/my A-bolt...we're still talking about hunting right?

ORIGINAL: steviebiggun I don't want to offendBrowning A-boltfans but after handling the Browning and the Sako, there is no comparison. only thing I have to do now is to start putting money away for a good high quality scope. thanks for the zeiss info. www.bearbasin.com www.eurooptic.com www.theopticzone.com www.swfa.com Do you already have scope mounts for the Sako? If not I recommend either Conetrol or Sako Optilocks. Ifpush came to shove, I think I'd go withthe Conetrols. |

The ziess 3x9x40 would also be my choice.I have owned both sako and browning and I much prefered the sako safety and magazine tothe a-bolt tang safety and magazine system.

RE: zeiss or leupold ????
although i have never looked at the zeiss my vote is with the LEUPOLD but maybe some can educate me a bit. the conquest is the lowest line budget model? the leupold varix iii is far from that in there line. the leupold has greater eye relief. the LEUPOLD is MADE IN AMERICA . if i have a problem i know how to take care of it because leupolds service and warranty is legendary even allowing transfer of warranty to the next buyer. where does the zeiss go for repair? unless there are trained techs and repair facilities here in the states i always insist that any of my more expensive purchases go back to the company and not some monkey that says they can fix any transmission because they saw the video:D. another turn off is when i look at super store sales flyers i seen a video camcorder that says it has a carl zeiss lens. i have to laugh because the camera is only a couple hundred so whats the cost of the lens about 50 cents . why would a company put there name on a cheap piece like that. this is just my gut feelings. at that price just have a look through each and decide your needs.

RE: zeiss or leupold ????
the conquest is the lowest line budget model? the leupold varix iii is far from that in there line. True but this comparison doesn't paint an accurate picture in terms of optical performance. In my comparison the Conquest was a winner in resolution, clarity and brightness vs the VXIII. Now this is subjective to personal attention but at the very worst they compare very favorably to each other on the optics side of things. Another personal thing I like in terms of construction is the Zeiss is 1 piece tube the VXII is 3! The change to 3 piece in the VX III from 1 of the vari x III caused me to scratch my head! the leupold has greater eye relief. True. Howeverif you compare the 3x9x40 Conquest to the3.5x10x40 VXIII you'll see this really becomes a non-issue. Thismodel of conquest has 4" constant eye relief, meaning no change when you adjust the power in ER afforded. Meanwhile the VXIII has4.6" (3x)to 3.6 (9x). Personal note I haven't had any problems with 3.5" of eye relief so published ER just isn't a big factor to me. However having used variable for ions and now having a few scopes equipped with constant ER, I have to tell you it is a great feature and wish they all came equipped with this. the LEUPOLD is MADE IN AMERICA . So is the Zeiss Conquest line, build in NY. Don't fool yourself both use components that are not made in the USA,but are rather assembled in the USA. if i have a problem i know how to take care of it because leupolds service and warranty is legendary even allowing transfer of warranty to the next buyer. where does the zeiss go for repair? unless there are trained techs and repair facilities here in the states I haven't had any issues with my conquests (actually never had any with my leupolds either), so haven't usedeither CS personally. However all reports I have heard from both Leupold & Zeiss Conquest are top notch. AKA: fast, quality and customer satisfaction. Zeiss Conquest also comes with lifetime gaurantee and transferable warranty for NA customers. They are also repaired in the USA, at the facility in NY. |
RE: zeiss or leupold ????
Zeiss, without doubt.

RE: zeiss or leupold ????
Forgot to mention another personal attribute I found in comparing the 2. The reticle portion of the Zeiss Conquest really stood out as a winner vs the leuy VXIII. I first must say I prefer duplex reticles for hunting so when I compared the z-plex reticle to the standard duplex on the leupold, the zeiss won in landslide. To me, it jumped out at my eye and unlike the leupold standard duplex it never faded into the background. Also the Zeiss uses an etched reticle vs wire on the Leupold.
Now these may or may not matter to you but just further points to one must compare side by side to get a true representation of the performance/features of your next scope. |
