Default Digital Camera/Recorder Bino's

A while back, a good friend of mine came up with a pair of .35MP digital camera bino's. An awesome idea, but the picture resolution sucked. They might have been some of the grainiest pictures ever. Not so good...

So, anyway, it was pretty clear that good high-resolution digital camera/binoculars were coming, it was just a matter of time.

It looks like they're here- I see that Meade, Simmons and Bushnell all have 3 MP camera/bino/video recorders. My presumption is that they take pretty awesome photos.

My question to you fellas, iswhether any of you have ever had the chance to play with one of these high-res units yet? If so, please post a few pictures under this thread or link to a video that you recorded.

I'm just wondering whether I should go ahead and buy one now, or wait a year, and enjoy great savings and increased performance?? I'm pretty sure I can get a 3 MP unit for under $160'ish... I think one of these would be awesome to take afield, and capture a lot of cool photos and experiences.

Advice/Recommendations/Comments/Sample pictures-videowould be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

quik,

I read your post yesterday but hesitated in posting simply because I really haven't tried any of the newer 3 meg models. However, considering the total price of these camera/bin combos I really would not be expecting much from the optics end of the binoculars. You would have a hard enough time buying a decent pair of full sized bins in that price range and now when you add in a 3 meg digital camera it would really leave me wondering what I am paying $150-$200 for. It sounds like a mediocre version of both the camera and the bins.

I could be wrong ofcourse and don't want to steer you away from the issue altogether. If they are offering a decent binocular/camera combo then I probably would be one of the first to buy it. I look forward to hearing of any future personal experiences that you may have.

I think I'm with you there, PA - the bino's themselves are probably not very good. I'm going to have to wait a while until I get a chance to tinker with one. Not enough info out there yet.
