RE: Tree Stand
i use to have one. Extremely heavy and hard to put up, it may require two ppl to put up BUT BUT BUT BUT, once you get it up, its worth the effort. It is very comfortable. I wish I would have kept mine.

RE: Tree Stand
very loud, very heavy, awkward to get in

RE: Tree Stand
If your going to buy one thats heavy get the tree lounger. It's not the most mobile climber but man is it safe when you are in it and like sitting in a lazy boy for comfort. I like to hunt all day and when you add the bow hunters accessory so you can stand up and stretch it is THE most comfortable, sturdy and high climbing stand I've even been in.
Not the easiest thing to get on and off the tree but I mount it and hunt it for a few days and it works out great. If you want to be taking it on and off the tree everytime you go in the woods get you one of those little light weight cable climbers... |

I have two of the older models (Tempered Aircraft Aluminum Square Tubing) which I bought about 10yrs ago. The only stand made that can climb a steel pole without slipping. Would'nt have any other!!;) |
RE: Tree Stand
You need to look at Strongbuilt's "Sling Seat Chain-On" Stand. It is similar to the Cabelas stand. I am sure they are much the same. I have one without the shooting rail because most distances I shoot are 150 yds or less. I am not an all-day hunter, but if I had to pick a stand to stay in all day it would be this one...IT IS SO COMFORTABLE once your in it. Its really only got one problem and that is that it is awkward to put up. IT is rock solid in the tree though because it has 2 ratchet straps and a chain, so you feel safe getting in it and sitting. If you gun hunt the same spots year after year, this stand cannot be beat.

RE: Tree Stand
Thanks all I just order a Strongbuilt's it was on sale at bass pro for only $69.

RE: Tree Stand
Get you someone to help you put it up, and you'll be fine. It is worth the effort though as its a dream to sit in. The only other thing I can say since I see you live in Canada, is when it snows the snow will lay in the seat and stick to it. When the snow hardens after a day or so, its stuck to the seat and hard and loud to get off, so either cover your seat with something or take it off and turn it upsde down and just put it on when u get in it.

RE: Tree Stand
shoulda bought the tree lounge. more comfortable and more versatile
|
RE: Tree Stand
You must be the TreeStandCop as well??? You would think the guy would know what he needs more than you would. Not everyone needs/likes a climber. You got to have a straight tree to put a climber in so you cant say a climber is more versatile than a lock-on. Your comparing apples and oranges.
|
RE: Tree Stand
i was saying a climber is more versatile than a lock on because it is easier to set up and easier to move. even you can't say a lock on is easier to move and set up when you have to screw in tree spikes or strap on ladders, climb the tree and then fasten the stand on.
|
RE: Tree Stand
Well then you should suggest to the guy that a climber is more versatile not tell him he made a wrong choice when u have no idea if he did or not. For all you know he wants a stand to take to a tree and leave it for years. And the stands are almost identical in how you sit so how do you know the tree lounge is more comfortable when they are both virtually the same? Don't tell someone they did something wrong when you have no idea.

RE: Tree Stand
Bought one last year and it is by far the most comfortable stand i have ever been in. as far as put it up, it comes with a t-screw to hoist it up the tree with a rope from the ground. i just tie the rope and ratchet it to the tree.

RE: Tree Stand
in a tree lounge you're positioned in more of a "layed back" position which relieves more tension from your lower back. this is how i know the tree lounge is more comfortable...i have sat in both. let me rephrase this, atleast to me it feels more comfortable...everyone's body size and type vary. it was only my opinion that he made a mistake...i really don't care if he takes my advice or not, after all...he made thisthread asking for everyone's thoughts about that particular lock on. if he did not want to know everyone's opinions on this, then he should not have asked.
also, since he is the thread starter he can ask me to clarify what i said, not you...you don't have a dog in this fight. my reply was to him, not you. |
